US strikes kill two in southwest Iran – Local media

Iranian state-linked media reported that two people were killed in alleged U.S. strikes on three locations in Abadan County, in Iran's southwestern Khuzestan province, an oil-producing region near the borders with Iraq and Kuwait. The reports, carried by Fars and Tasnim news agencies, also said three others were wounded.

The reported strikes come amid a sharp escalation in fighting between the United States and Iran. According to U.S. officials, recent operations have targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including air-defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone facilities, and naval assets following Iranian attacks on U.S. interests in the Gulf.

The renewed hostilities have intensified concerns over regional stability and the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil exports. Multiple reports indicate that commercial maritime traffic has fallen significantly as both sides continue exchanging military strikes.

At the time of reporting, there was no independent confirmation of the casualty figures beyond Iranian media reports, and U.S. authorities had not publicly commented on the specific incident.
