  Minister of Defense, General Christopher Musa, rtd, says President Bola Tinubu will soon announce salary increment for personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces. In a statement by his media aide, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the minister said the move is part of the Federal Government’s sustained commitment to improving troop welfare and rewarding their sacrifices to the nation. He recalled previous welfare benchmarks, noting that military pay was successfully raised from N49,000 to N100,000 during his tenure as Chief of Defence Staff. General Musa stressed that active steps are currently underway to secure an even better package for the troops. “I want to state here that a few weeks ago, I mentioned that soldiers are now receiving N100,000. When I was Chief of Defence Staff, soldiers were receiving N49,000. “About two years ago, I pushed for an increase to N100,000, and that was achieved. We are, however, making further efforts to increase it again,” Musa stated.

  Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a suspected abduction attempt along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, rescuing the victim unhurt and restoring calm to the area. The incident occurred on Saturday, 26th July, 2026, at about 7:10 p.m. at Onigaari area of the expressway. Confirming the development to DAILY POST on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said operatives of the Command’s Safer Highway Patrol Team were on routine confidence-building patrol when they heard gunshots from the area. According to Babaseyi, the swift response and tactical presence of the police forced the hoodlums to abandon their criminal mission and flee into the adjoining bush. “The operatives immediately responded after hearing gunshots. Their swift intervention forced the suspects to abandon the victim and flee,” Babaseyi said.   Pop star Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit against two unidentified hackers who, she claims, leaked unreleased music and studio footage after gaining access to her collaborators' computers. In papers filed in Los Angeles and reported by US media outlets, the singer alleged the hackers had targeted photographers and producers' in order to access material that was sold "on the dark web" for "significant sums of money". "In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked," the documents said. "Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place." Her lawyers said she was initiating legal action to uncover the identity of the hackers. Grande has previously expressed her desire to hold hackers accountable for leaking unreleased music.   A notorious bandit commander, Iliya Mai Rasha, has been killed during a fierce gun battle between security forces and armed bandits in Guga Village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. The development was reported by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who said the operation also left more than 40 suspected bandits dead. According to the report, the attack occurred at about 5:40pm on July 26 when over 200 heavily armed bandits stormed Guga Village after allegedly being mobilised by notorious bandit kingpin, Idi Abasu Aiki. Makama said Mai Rasha was among the senior bandit commanders who joined the attack at the invitation of notorious kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki. He had been linked to several deadly attacks, kidnappings and other violent crimes in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.   The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says the reported attack on one of its permanent voter cards (PVCs) collection centres in Osun will not deter it from conducting a free, fair and credible governorship election in the state. Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Dayo Oketola, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja. NAN reports that some suspected hoodlums had, on Sunday, stormed an INEC PVC collection centre located at Oyinlola DC School, Ward 2, Okuku, attacking staff members on duty and carting away electoral materials, including Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices and PVCs. Mr Oketola, however, told NAN that the incident had been formally reported to the police, saying they had already commenced investigation into the incident. “The Osun incident has been reported to the police. As we speak, it is already public knowledge that the police have started an investigation,” Mr Oketola said. ...
